Fixing And Cleaning For A Garage Sale

Too much junk is annoying to the eyes so it’s helpful when you fix and clean up your garage once in a while.

Always remember that the purpose of the garage is to store old items you might need to pull out in time. However, if the case is that you have no need for these items and they are considered as junk, it’s better to throw them away.

Here are some tips to assist you in fixing and cleaning your garage.

1. Conduct a garage sale. Money is always a nice motivator to get things done. Think of the extra moolah that will come in after you have arranged your stuff. It’s like getting two birds with one stone. Not only did you clean out your garage, you were also able to get cash from it.

2. It’s a family affair. By cleaning out the basement, garage and attic, you can gather your family members together. It involves a lot of stretching, bending and climbing. It could be one-day-off for everyone and an activity that they could all do together. Also, if you happen to uncover something of importance, then seeing the item brings back memories.

3. Now that you’re fixing your garage, make a list on what you should purchase for future storage. Choose whether you need steel shelving or plastic storage containers. Also get hooks as additional supplies.

4. Have patience. Start sorting out one section at a time. One look at the entire garage, basement or attic can be overwhelming because it may seem like a lot of work. Concentrate on one area and sort through everything one by one.

5. Think of the outcome. Once the entire garage, basement or attic has been cleaned out, look around and you’ll be so relieved and proud of your achievement. It was an arduous task but it was achieved.

6. Sweep and scrub. It’s not enough that you arrange the items in your garage or basement. Afterwards, sweep and scrub the entire room. You may have sorted through your stuff but it will still look awful if there are cobwebs and dust in sight.

7. Maximize the space that you have. If you have a separate garden shed, store the tools there. Be careful with the tools because they must be arranged neatly and properly in order to avoid accidents from happening.

8. Ask your recycling center if they accept old books and magazines. If they do, you might also get extra money from them. By donating old books and magazines, you may help your neighborhood kids by providing them with reading materials.

9. Keep things grouped together. In doing so, it will be easier for you to get the stuff that you need when you need them. Try getting those see-through box containers or bins. Label them on top of their lid so that with one glance, you know what is inside them.

10. Whatever trash you’ve gathered, make sure that you dispose of it properly. That is why in the beginning of your garage cleaning, it is advisable that you have with you plastic bags to put your trash in.

You can make an appointment with your local charity to take the stuff that you don’t need.

If some items can still be repaired then sold later on, you can advertise that you are having a garage sale in your local neighborhood.

Now with the garage sale, make sure that you price the materials just right. Don’t let your possible buyers feel that you are cheating them. There are many ways you can make passers by and onlookers welcome just by looking in at your stuff and getting what could be a treasure from your trash.

The garage is like a closet. It helps us store stuff that we don’t need. Now that you have a newly refurnished closet, think of the other things that you could put in it.

Now that your garage is cleaner than ever, do your best to maintain the quality of organization that was the result from your cleaning. In doing so, the next time you do decide to have another garage sales, it will be easier for you and everyone involved.
